Comedy superstars Dave Chappelle and Mike Myers will wrap up the Inside the Actors Studio season in live interviews with Emmy-winner James Lipton on May 20 and 22 respectively, at Pace University in New York City.
Chappelle’s previous Lipton interview made headlines with his first public discussion of his sudden 2005 decision to leave his own show, and head to Africa to rethink his career and priorities. This year’s appearance is planned for a two-hour special, and may make news of its own, though no details of what may be announced have been forthcoming.
Taping audiences are handpicked, and include the star’s guests plus the students in Lipton’s highly competitive Actors Studio drama school at Pace University in lower Manhattan. For these two shows, both beginning at 7:00 p.m. in its new, larger facility at Pace, a limited number of single tickets priced at $50-$65 have been quietly placed on sale through SmartTix at (212) 868-4444.
“Insider” news is that a special discount code CLASS8 was given to Pace seniors (they graduate May 21) offering general admission tickets at just $20, but anyone in the public can apparently use it by calling SmartTix. There is also a free standby line outside the theatre, on Spruce Street near City Hall, but not everyone gets in, so twenty bucks seems like the way to go, if you can order before they catch on, or tickets sell out.
