Boston comedy legend Steve Sweeney has filed a lawsuit against Bill Blumenreich, owner of the Boston Connection, for breach of contract after Blumenreich stiffed the comedian out of $50,000, the Boston Globe reports. According to the lawsuit, Blumenreich signed the comedian to an exclusive deal worth $100,000 per year in 2006. Sweeney says Blumenreich promised to book him twice a month, and in return he agreed not to perform at any other comedy venues in the Boston area. The contract was renewed in 2007, but Sweeney received fewer bookings and was not compensated. Blumenreich responded to the lawsuit, claiming that the club was unable to book Sweeney due to financial difficulties.
