The New York Underground Comedy Festival will present Richard Belzer & The Belzonics Saturday, October 3 at 9:30pm at the Green Room Theater. (Tickets are $45. No drink minimum) The veteran stand-up comedian-actor will return for his 10th season as the acerbic character Detective John Munch on Wolf Films/ Universal Media Studio’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
The festival has also announced the comedians competing in this year’s Emerging Comics Contest: Harris Bloom, Vladimir Caamano, Nick Cobb, Mel Fine, Jermaine Fowler, Lamont Price, Phoebe Robinson, Marz Timms, Harry Terjanian, plus one final comedian to be announced. Last year, rising comedy sensation Reese Waters (Comedy Central’s Michael and Michael Have Issues) won the prestigious competition.
In addition, NYC.com will sponsor, Best of the Boroughs, a contest featuring two comics from each of the five boroughs facing off for a spot on the big show.
The New York Underground Comedy Festival will take place October 2-11.
