The 2014 Ladies of Laughter comedy competition is accepting submissions for its summer series. The three-part event produced by Peggy Boyce includes two preliminary shows at Gotham Comedy Club on Monday, July 21, and at Levity Live on Thursday, July 31 with the Grand Finale show returning to Gotham on Monday, August 11.
2012 Pro winner Robin Fox will host the finale.
Comedians can apply online by completing a registration form with links to their 5-8 minute performances and submitting a $30 registration fee. The deadline for submissions is July 20.
Selected participants will compete for cash prizes, the prestigious national Ladies of Laughter titles, and multiple club and theater bookings at venues such as the Mayo Arts Center in NJ, The Winery in PA and the Goodwill Theatre in NY.
Since 1999, Ladies of Laughter has been the premier comedy source for discovering and supporting the careers of funny women. The contest attracts talented ladies competing from the United States, Canada, England and Australia. Past winners include nationally touring headliners Tammy Pescatelli, Jane Condon, Robin Fox, Stephanie Blum, Chris Rich, Patty Rosborough, Dana Eagle, Dena Blizzard, Kim Cea, Wendy Spero and Regina DeCicco. The Ladies of Laughter series has also included past participants such as Amy Schumer, Laurie Kilmartin, Melissa Rauch, Rachel Feinstein and Jessica Kirson.
Most recently, the 2013-2014 Ladies of Laughter Funny & Fabulous Tour featuring some of its past pro and new comic winners, as well as comedians Leighann Lord, Nancy Lombardo, Andrea Henry and Erin Hawkes, has enjoyed success performing at theaters across the country, adding new dates to the tour.
