Linda Belt (Pro Comic)
“I’m not a comic who usually competes in contests. I’ve been in the Boston Comedy Festival, The Great Canadian Laugh Off and a few smaller local contest events over the years. The Ladies of Laughter was the first such event in years. The advice I received and have learned is that a 5-10 minute set is a very specific skill set; and for me it was an extra challenge considering that my performances are typically 45-60 minutes. When I heard my name called for the finals it was surreal. I ran to the stage from the back of the show room, hit the side of a high top table and ended up with quite the bruise the next morning. The Ladies of Laughter has given me the opportunity to meet and work with some of the ladies for the first time and to catch up with some of my comedy sisters that I haven’t seen or worked with in a while. Also, it’s an opportunity to be seen by some folks in the industry whom I’ve never had the opportunity to perform in front of…The way I see it, no matter what the outcome…it’s a win-win!”
