NY Laughs Laughter in the Park is competing for a July 2011 Pepsi Refresh Grant. The 2011 season of Laughter in the Park features nine weeks of free programming in three Manhattan parks (Central, Tompkins Square and Washington Square) on Sundays from 2-4pm. Some of the hottest comedians working today have performed at Laughter in the Park including Hannibal Buress, Anthony Jeselnik, Amy Schumer, Joe DeRosa, Karith Foster and Al Jackson.
To win the $25,000 grant, NY Laughs must place within the top 15 votegetters on refresheverything.com. The public can vote daily for “Laughter in the Park” throughout July at www.refresheverything.com/laughterinthepark or to TEXT: 107329 to Pepsi (73774). Fans can vote a total of twice in a day using both methods.
Founded by Suzette Simon, NYLaughs Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that seeks to change the perception of stand-up comedy, deepen the appreciation of it as an art form and build community through laughter by producing free live comedy shows in New York City’s public spaces — from its parks and streets to its subways.
